The 6-2 Ft. Polk South win over Mercer Island was due in large part to Joshua Sheppard. The Thunder Hawks third baseman went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Bartolo Márquez picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-4. He struck out 2 in 7 innings. Mercer Island has now lost 5 consecutive games.
Ft. Polk South took a 5-2 lead on Sheppard's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Geoffrey Da Costa in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Ft. Polk South to the win.
