Ft. Polk South beat Virginia Beach on the strength of starter Bartolo Márquez's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Ft. Polk South reliever Dave Bass was the winner. His record is now 4-0. The losing pitcher was Gavriil Wolfson. The win puts Ft. Polk South at 24-16 this season.

Had Joshua Sheppard not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Sheppard hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Thunder Hawks.

"Slowly but surely, the wins are piling up," said Sheppard.
