Skidding Pierogis Lose 6th Straight
|
Squirrel Hill center fielder Miguel Aranda had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Aranda belted 2 home runs, even as Ft. Polk South beat the Pierogis, 6-5. Ft. Polk South reliever Valentín Jiménez picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Richard McCord shouldered the loss. Squirrel Hill is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when third baseman Joshua Sheppard, who is tied for 5th in the PAA with a .344 batting average, hit a run-scoring double. The Thunder Hawks went on to win.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Sheppard said.
