Fighting Imps Beat Athletic Club KC Academy, 9-8
The Ithaca Fighting Imps topped the Athletic Club KC Academy by the score of 9-8, with the biggest share of the credit going to designated hitter Jeffrey Sparks. Sparks slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Fighting Imps on the day. Ithaca reliever Mario Méndez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Dylan Jolly shouldered the loss. Ithaca is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 6th win in 16 games.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Ithaca pinch hitter Larry Thompson, facing Dylan Jolly, had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It gave the Fighting Imps the 9-8 win.

"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Sparks said.
