The Squirrel Hill Pierogis opened their 2051 season with a disappointing 10-4 loss to the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks at Field of the Rawhides. Right Fielder Andrew Brown was a big part of the win for Ft. Polk South. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Teddy Barnes earned the win for Ft. Polk South. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0.

Ft. Polk South third baseman Joshua Sheppard contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball into left field for a 2-run single. It was his 3rd hit of the season and put the Thunder Hawks ahead, 7-1.
