Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Torch Field.

The Niagara Falls Expos beat the Mancelona Torch, 5-4, in part because of designated hitter Claudio Sosa. He went 4 for 7 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ernst Ayotte, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit.

César Medina made it 5-4 in favor of Niagara Falls when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with one out in the top of the 15th. The Expos went on to win.

"This is a resilient bunch," said Niagara Falls manager Dave Davis.

The 4th-place Expos sport a record of 55-35.
