The Niagara Falls Expos had to overcome a fine effort from Mancelona pitcher Rafael Aguilar to grab a narrow 2-1 win at Torch Field. Aguilar went 7.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Shu-yen Thien, 6-3, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Rodrigo Valderrábano got the save, the 7th for him this season.

Had Andreas Boerboom not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Boerboom hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Expos.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Niagara Falls manager Dave Davis said.

The 'W' lifts Niagara Falls's record to 54-35.
