Matthew Burch was instrumental in his team's 6-4 triumph over the Mancelona Torch. The third baseman was 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Washington Generals. Don Hansen earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 3-2. Dawson Adams earned the save for Washington, his 12th.

In the top of the eighth, the Generals surged ahead when Burch muscled his 7th home run of the season. The 2-run home run off Ji Wang made it 6-4, Washington.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Burch told the Washington Daily News.

Washington is now 35-49, Mancelona 56-28.
