Storm Beat Generals, 5-3
|
Syracuse pitcher Milton Kirksey did his part in helping his team beat the Washington Generals, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winning pitcher was Kirksey, now 3-4. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 12. Enrico Cervantes got credit for the save for Syracuse. It was his 5th of the year.
A critical at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning when the Storm sent 19-year-old second baseman Ryan O'Callahan to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a sacrifice fly, to put Syracuse on top, 5-3.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," O'Callahan told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
Syracuse, now 30-43, holds down 8th place in the Menard's A.
