Generals Sneak Past Storm, 3-2
|
Washington beat Syracuse at Washington Park, escaping with a 3-2 win. The win in large part was due to second baseman Matthew Burch. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times. Chiah-jen Fu, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits. Washington is now 24-32, Syracuse 24-32.
Burch had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-0 fastball from Bartold Nuijs, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Generals a 3-2 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Burch.
Syracuse manager Vincent Hall said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
