Beat Goes On for Chiefs, Win 7-0 Over Generals
|
The Caldwell Chiefs beat the Washington Generals, 7-0. Caldwell pitcher and West Hartford, Connecticut, native Steve Boyd led the way. Boyd went 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 3, and struck out 10. His record improves to 7-2. Caldwell has run its win streak to 10 in a row.
Had Gustavo Cota not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Cota hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Chiefs.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Kevin Fields.
