Martin, Bulls Beat Generals, 13-6
|
The Belleville Bulls beat the Washington Generals, 13-6, at Belleville Field. Bill Martin, in particular, was impressive. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5. Belleville reliever Tsuginori Inoue picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Norberto Morán took the loss. The Generals, at 14-23, have lost 4 in a row.
The Bulls got a big at-bat from designated hitter Mark Eigts. For the game, Eigts went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Belleville a 9-6 lead.
In comments to the Belleville Citizen, Martin admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
