Chiefs Drop Vibes, 10-4
|
The Caldwell Chiefs beat the Rocky Mountain Vibes, 10-4, at Bellevue Field. The Chiefs got a fine performance from second baseman Gustavo Cota, who was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Dave Harris, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 6 and walking 4. Arturo Gutiérrez earned the save, his 8th, for the Chiefs.
Caldwell relied on the hitting of Baltwin Davids to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Chiefs on top, 4-2. For the game, Davids had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I like our moxie," said Chiefs manager Kevin Fields.
Caldwell has now won 3 straight, while the Vibes have lost 3 in a row.
