Chiefs Stick River Rats with 7-2 Loss
|
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Columbia River Rats were eager to watch Guy Riggs square off against Steve Boyd of the visiting Caldwell Chiefs. In the end, the Chiefs won the game, 7-2, with Steve Boyd leading the way.
Had Brian Page not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Page hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Chiefs.
Boyd called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
