Ghosts Handle Nationals, 8-5
|
Ottawa got a terrific game from second baseman Colm Sergeant. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Casper, 8-5. Sergeant went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. Casper reliever Iestyn Dimbleby picked up the win, upping his record to 2-4. Tim Simmons shouldered the loss. Danny Antonio, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 18th save.
In the bottom of the sixth, Casper first baseman Tomás Ventura put his team on top. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit his 25th home run of the year. Ottawa pitcher Tim Simmons served it up. Just like that, the Ghosts were ahead, 5-4.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Casper manager Mesa Altuve.
The Ghosts raised their record to 50-41.
