The Yakima Hops got a stellar performance from pitcher Sanya Matlah, who handcuffed the Irving offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Blue Sox Ballpark. Rich Cheyney was credited with the save, his 15th in 16 tries. The 10th-place Hops have a record of 39-50.
Matlah, the Yakima right-hander, went 7 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits. He collected 10 strikeouts.
"Sanya had swing-and-miss stuff," said Yakima manager Markus Richardson.
