Despite a great performance by Irving designated hitter Salvador Torres, the Yakima Hops defeated the Blue Sox by the score of 7-6 at Blue Sox Ballpark. Torres was 2 for 4 with a triple, while scoring 2 times. Emery Carson earned the win for Yakima. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 3-11. Rich Cheyney picked up the save for Yakima, his 14th of the year.

The Hops got a big hit from first baseman Gustavo Alicea. In the top of the seventh, Alicea pounded a solo home run to right. His 9th home run of the season put the Hops ahead, 7-3.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Markus Richardson.

The 10th-place Hops are now 38-50, the Blue Sox 36-52.
