Highlanders Stick Polar Bears with 2-1 Loss
The Asheville Highlanders eked out a 2-1 win versus the Billings Polar Bears at Asheville Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Andy Johnson. He was terrific. Tom Young finished the game for Asheville and earned his 17th save. Asheville now owns a record of 48-38.

Ken Combs went 1-3 with 2 walks for Asheville. In the bottom of the sixth, with the teams deadlocked, 1-1, Combs delivered for the Highlanders. His run-scoring walk put Asheville on top, 2-1.

"This was a tough loss," said Billings manager Marvin Nelson. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
