The Yakima Hops got a sterling performance from pitcher Sanya Matlah, but the Tacoma Fur Traders still prevailed, 4-3. Matlah threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Claudio Dávila earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-4. With this game in the books, Tacoma is 32-52, Yakima 36-48.
The game came to an abrupt end with two out in the bottom of the ninth. On a pitch from Rich Cheyney, Kerry Carcia hit a run-scoring single. It gave Tacoma the 4-3 win.
"It's great to see the crowd jacked up," Carcia said.
