Ghosts Get 5th Straight Win with Late Rally
|
In the 6-5 Casper win over Asheville, the impact of Nick Pender was substantial. Pender, who is tied for 8th in the 3AA in bases on balls with 46, went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. Casper reliever Danny Antonio picked up the win, upping his record to 6-4. Cory Black was saddled with the loss. With the victory, the Ghosts upped their record to 46-37.
In the bottom of the ninth, with no one out and the game tied, 5-5, first baseman Tomás Ventura won it for Casper. With a runner on 2nd, Ventura hit a first pitch cutter from Cory Black for a run-scoring double, giving his team the 6-5 win.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Ventura.
