Toledo Wins, 4-3, in 12 Innings
|
Northville got a terrific game from third baseman Abraham Waddle. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Toledo, 4-3. Waddle went 4 for 5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Dan Wells, 3-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. With the victory, the Saboteurs record now stands at 48-33.
The result might have been different for Toledo, had it not been for Mauro Quijano, the 21-year old left fielder . Quijano stroked a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 12th inning to put Toledo up, 4-3. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Northville manager Pedro Ángel.
