Blue Sox Top Sixshooters in Extras, 7-4
|
With first baseman James Wells leading the charge, the Irving Blue Sox defeated the Westwood Sixshooters, 7-4, at Sixshooters Stadium. Wells, who is tied for 10th in the 3AA in bases on balls with 38, went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Peter Boxsell, now 3-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. With the win, Irving has a record of 32-48. Westwood falls to 44-36.
Wells had a game-changing home run in the top of the 13th. On a 2-2 splitter from Mike White, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Blue Sox a 7-4 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Wells.
"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Wells.
