The Ottawa Nationals and Asheville Highlanders were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Asheville rode a good effort from starter Andrew Stockton to beat the Ottawa Nationals at Asheville Park. The final score was 6-2. Stockton picked up the win for Asheville, going 5 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1.
Nathan Pretty hit a 2-run triple off Darwin Donovan in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Highlanders in front, 3-2. Pretty had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 3.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Pretty told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
Asheville is third in the Menard's AA with a record of 41-32.
