The Marquette Miners extended their winning streak.

The Marquette Miners trumped the Ottawa Nationals, 5-1, at Nationals Park. Marquette left fielder Andrew Smith was terrific. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Bill Lund, the winner, improved to 7-4. He held the Nationals to 1 run on 4 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1.

In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Smith hit a 2-run home run to put his team ahead.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Marquette manager Jeremy Dennis. "It's usually not just one thing."

Marquette has now won 7 straight.
