Porter Excels, But Sixshooters Win
|
Victor Porter had a good game, but he could not keep the Ottawa Nationals from falling, 6-5, to the Westwood Sixshooters at Nationals Park. The Ottawa left fielder was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once in the loss. Westwood pitcher Cory Fisher got the win. He's now 1-5. Ben Poe was tagged with the loss. Jesús Pérez got credit for the save for Westwood. It was his 7th of the year.
George Samuels, the 28-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Samuels contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fifth inning to put Westwood up, 4-2.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Samuels.
The win elevated the Sixshooters to 34-30.
