Yakima starter Kevin Thornton had a strong outing against the Northville Eclipse at Hops Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 3-2 win. Thornton went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 4-6. Rich Cheyney sewed up the save, his 8th.

Ostoja Popovic made an early impact for Yakima when he stroked his 14th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which came with one out in the bottom of the third, put the Hops on top, 3-0.

"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Thornton said.
