Losing Streak Continues for Farmers with 4-2 Loss to Blue Sox
|
The Irving Blue Sox got a stellar performance from pitcher Peter Boxsell, who handcuffed the Lancaster offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Farmers Field. Boxsell got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 1 hit and walked 2 over 6 innings. Boxsell allowed no runs. The losses continue to mount for Lancaster, which has now dropped 9 in a row.
Irving used a well-timed hit by Wes Chávez to capture the win. The left fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Blue Sox ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
After the game, Irving manager Willie Mitchell applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
