Asheville got a first-rate effort from pitcher Clemenz Lawrence, who frustrated Casper hitters en route to a 3-1 Highlanders triumph at Asheville Park. Lawrence, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 2 walks. Asheville has a mark of 12-7 after the win.

The Highlanders got a big at-bat from right fielder Joren van Schie. For the game, van Schie was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 2nd double of the season gave Asheville a 2-1 lead.
