Gabriel Vásquez, second baseman for the MSL Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 38 games with 2 hits in his club's 11-8 victory today over the MSL Oakland Oaks at MSL Thunder Bay Ballpark today.
"I don't really know why it's even happening," he said with a grin after the game. "So asking me how long I can keep it up is kind of irrelevant. It'll end when it ends." Gabriel Vásquez was hit by a pitch in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, walked in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Vásquez is hitting .465 this year with 2 home runs, 47 RBIs and 45 runs scored. He has 87 hits in 187 at-bats, 19 walks and a .517 on-base percentage. Vásquez has played in 45 games.
