Fans who congregated at Washington Stadium were treated to extra-inning drama.

The New Orleans Voodoo beat the D.C. Divided by a score of 8-7. New Orleans designated hitter Obke Veenman deserved the lion's share of the credit. Veenman went 2 for 6 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Voodoo. The win belongs to Ronnie Gómez in relief. His record improves to 5-2. José Hernández took the loss for D.C..

In the top of the ninth inning, New Orleans got a key at-bat from Veenman. With one out, a runner on 1st and the Voodoo trailing 7-5, Veenman hit a 2-run home run.

"This was a good win for us," said Veenman. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."

The first-place Voodoo, at 71-36, now lead their division by 7 games.
