Northern Lions BC Take Down Outlaws, 4-3
|
Fans watched the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC and the Nashville Outlaws fight to the finish.
The Nashville Outlaws got a superb performance from pitcher Fernando Ríos. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Thunder Bay. The Northern Lions BC won the game, 4-3. Ríos threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Armando Trujillo, now 9-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. Fred Jerger notched his 4th save in 7 chances.
Thunder Bay used the clutch hitting of Keaton Kringlen to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Northern Lions BC ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams.
With the win, Thunder Bay upped its record to 51-47.
