Cattlemen Get One-Run Win at Oakland
|
Oakland shortstop Jorge Peniche was sensational. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Ft. Worth beat the Oaks, 6-5. Ft. Worth reliever Jérôme Fleury got the win, raising his record to 5-2. Stanford Thompson was tagged with the loss. Maverick Handley recorded the save, his 26th.
Pielgrzym Myslajek, the 25-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Myslajek contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put Ft. Worth up, 5-4.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Ft. Worth manager Scott Thompson.
The Cattlemen improved to 53-39.
