Oaks Clip Battery, 6-5
|
The Charleston Battery and Oakland Oaks provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Oakland Oaks did just enough to sneak past the Charleston Battery, 6-5, at Charleston Armory. Oakland second baseman Zee-loo Situ, in particular, had a standout performance. Stewart Telfer came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. Juan Luis Matos recorded the save, his 20th.
Situ came through with some timely hitting for Oakland. With Charleston trailing 5-3 in the top of the ninth, Situ hit a 0-1 fastball for a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season made it 6-5, Oakland.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Situ.
With the win, the Oaks sit at 38-33.
