Cattlemen Suffer 6-4 Setback
|
New Orleans first baseman Michizane Yamashita made his presence felt in the 6-4 Voodoo triumph over the Ft. Worth Cattlemen. Yamashita went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Tim Strong finished the game for New Orleans and earned his 4th save. At 40-23, New Orleans is in second place in the Third League.
Paulino Gómez had the most critical at-bat for New Orleans. With two in the top of the ninth inning, Gómez hit a full count curveball from Maverick Handley for a 2-run single. It put New Orleans in front, 6-4.
"I'm proud to be a part of what we've got going on here," Gómez told the New Orleans News. "It's a great group and we're happy with the win."
