Oaks Earn 2-1 Win Versus Voodoo
The New Orleans Voodoo got a superb performance from pitcher Yan van der Meijden, but the Oakland Oaks still won the game, 2-1. van der Meijden threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Oakland reliever Aubrey Curry picked up the win to move to 1-1. Tim Strong suffered the loss. With the victory, the Oaks upped their record to 24-20.

Oakland needed the clutch hitting of Eldon Broadus to notch the win. The catcher hammered a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Oaks on top, 2-1. For the game, Broadus had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"At least I did my job," Broadus said.
