Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Cattlemen
|
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen topped the Charleston Battery by the score of 9-7, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Kolby Hay. Hay was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs for the Cattlemen. Ft. Worth reliever Jack Buyse picked up the win, while Denis Jongenelen took the loss for Charleston. Maverick Handley earned the save, his 8th.
Quepos, Costa Rica-born Júlio Coronado came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Cattlemen trailing 7-6, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Ft. Worth on top.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Hay.
Ft. Worth leads the Third League by 2 games.
