Flamingos Top Battery in Extras, 9-8
|
Fans who congregated at Charleston Armory were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Las Vegas Flamingos knocked off the Charleston Battery, 9-8, at Charleston Armory. Chan-ho Shinn was a big reason Las Vegas won. The first baseman was 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Las Vegas reliever Don Williams was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Rafael Pérez took the loss. Cullen Taylor earned the save, his 1st, for the Flamingos.
Shinn had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 1-1 fastball from Rafael Pérez, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Flamingos a 9-8 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Shinn.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Tom Williams.
The Flamingos saw their record improve to 16-13.
