Northern Lions BC Spoil Opening Day for Battery, Their Fans
|
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Charleston Battery were eager to watch Everett Pratt square off against Jorge Souza of the visiting Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC. In the end, the Northern Lions BC won the game, 7-3, with Jorge Souza leading the way. The winning pitcher was Souza, now 1-0. He tossed 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 7.
The outcome might have been different for Thunder Bay, had it not been for Steve Scott, the former first round draft pick . Scott stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Thunder Bay up, 6-2. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
Souza told a Thunder Bay Daily News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
