Home Loss Shrinks Coeur Series Lead to 2-1
|
Already down in the ToC Semi-Finals, the Boston Patriots put on their best show, beating the St. Louis Coeur by a final score of 3-1 today. Sidney Petty was special. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Boston now trails St. Louis 2-1 in the best-of-5 affair.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the sixth, with the game tied, Eisse van Opdorp was at the plate when Boston scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Patriots to go in front, 2-1.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said van Opdorp.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The BFIB in St. Louis.
