84s Best Dirty Reds in Pitching Duel
|
In a well-pitched game between the Greenville 84s and the San Mateo Dirty Reds, pitcher Ratko Peric was fantastic. The Greenville left-hander helped his team secure the win, 1-0. The winning pitcher was Peric, now 1-0. He tossed 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Derek May recorded the save, his 1st.
The Dirty Reds had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the 84s going into the top of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old shortstop Francisco Daulong came to the plate. Daulong hit a run-scoring double on a 1-2 changeup from San Mateo hurler Ronald Fritz. It was Daulong's 1st double of the year.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Peric said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The win gives the 84s a record of 1-1.
