Hounds Top Shockers, 10-5
|
Sixto Gil made an impact in the 10-5 Hicksville win over Surprise. Gil, who is tied for 8th in the 3R in bases on balls with 18, was 2-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Pedro Piña, now 1-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 5 hits in 4 innings. Hicksville is 11th in the Menard's R with a record of 13-22.
Gil had a game-changing double in the top of the sixth. On a full count fastball from Davey van de Voorst, he banged a run-scoring double to right, giving the Hounds a 6-5 lead. It was the 5th double of the year for Gil.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Gil told the Hicksville Daily News. "It's as simple as that."
