Nova Scotia beat San Mateo on the strength of starter Dave Stafford's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 3-1. Stafford, now 3-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 1, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Earning his 21st save for Nova Scotia was Tom DeHart.

The Leviathan got an important contribution from left fielder Benno Luby, who in the top of the fourth knocked a 1-0 fastball into left for a run-scoring double. It was his 34th double of the season and put the Leviathan ahead, 2-0.

"I like what I saw today," said Nova Scotia manager Andrew Powell, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."

Nova Scotia is now riding a 3-game win streak.
