|
In a low-scoring affair between the Long Island Lighthouse and the Greenville 84s, pitcher Mike Bennett was the difference between victory and defeat. The Long Island right-hander earned accolades in the 1-0 Lighthouse win. The winning pitcher was Bennett, now 5-5. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Lloyd Natoff closed it out for his 20th save.
Axel Chicote was 1-2 for Long Island. In the top of the second, with the teams deadlocked, 0-0, Chicote delivered for the Lighthouse. His run-scoring sacrifice fly put Long Island on top, 1-0.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Bennett said after the game.
