Sierra Hits 2 home runs in Lighthouse Win
|
The Long Island Lighthouse did just enough to secure a victory over the Seattle Rocketeers, 6-5, at The Lighthouse. Nobody did more than designated hitter Javier Sierra. Carlos Rodríguez, now 1-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Lloyd Natoff, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Had Daniel McCoy not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, McCoy hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Lighthouse.
"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Sierra. "I think we showed that here."
Long Island is now 1-4.
