Rainbow Mermaids Fall Short, 4-3, at Long Island
|
The Long Island Lighthouse beat the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 4-3. Long Island pitcher and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native Chase Sims led the way. With the win, Long Island has a record of 14-15. Northern Virginia falls to 13-16.
The Lighthouse got a big hit from designated hitter Javier Sierra. In the bottom of the sixth, Sierra pounded a solo home run to left-center. His 6th home run of the season put the Lighthouse ahead, 4-1.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Long Island manager Michael Esposito.
