Dirty Reds Lose to Lighthouse in Walk Off
|
The Long Island Lighthouse had to overcome a fine effort from San Mateo pitcher Sylvain Richard to grab a narrow 3-1 win at The Lighthouse. Richard went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Long Island reliever Bill Glenn picked up the win to move to 2-0. Mike Park suffered the loss. San Mateo's current losing streak is now 4 games.
Long Island won the game in the bottom of the 12th inning. With no outs and Mike Park on the mound for San Mateo, third baseman Jonas van Claveren hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Lighthouse fans to their feet.
"Enjoyed this one," van Claveren told the Long Island Herald. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
