Rivera Is King of Swing: Goes Deep 3 Times
Friday, August 11th , 2045
Hitting three home runs in a game is usually something to celebrate, but there was no celebration to be found at Imps Park after the hitting barrage from Júlio Rivera. The Billings Polar Bears dropped the contest 8-7 to the Ithaca Fighting Imps, leaving Rivera with only a historical footnote as consolation.
Júlio is blessed with a natural home run swing so he gets the ball up in the air real quickly," Billings manager Marvin Nelson said after the loss. "It's just a shame we couldn't win the game, too. I'm sure it spoils the day a little for him."
Along with putting three in the stands, Rivera went 3-for-7 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," he told reporters after the game. "Mostly you'll fail if you really try to hit one, but today I tried on the last one."
Júlio Rivera hit a two-run home run off Edgardo Costello in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Leonardo Trujillo in the 9th, flied out in the 11th, struck out in the 13th and hit a solo-shot off Xin-fang Zha in the 15th.
