Matos Voted August's #1 Newcomer Friday, September 1st , 2045 Juan Luis Matos of the Oakland Oaks was good, solid and consistent on the mound this month. He fashioned a fine 1-1 won-lost mark and 1.72 ERA in 0 starts to get the Menard's Third League Rookie of the Month honors. Matos had a very impressive August, finishing with 19 strikeouts in 15.2 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .193 average. This year Matos has made 46 relief appearances, pitched 49.1 innings, and fashioned a 2-4 record with a 2.55 ERA. He has recorded 26 saves, struck out 50, and allowed opposing clubs to hit .219 when he is on the hill. |
