Grand Forks Wins Again, 3-1
|
Their bats were silent and Grand Forks had a rookie on the mound. No problem.
On a day when the Caterpillars struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 22-year-old starter Will Bass. The right-hander quieted the Syracuse Storm at Storm Park to help Grand Forks take the 3-1 decision and seize a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 3L A Championship.
Grand Forks relied on the bat of Heriberto Sanches to get the win. The third baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Caterpillars ahead, 3-1. For the game, Sanches had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"I really like what we did out there today," Bass said after the game.
Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at The Cocoon in Grand Forks.
