The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Tippi Degré came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Athletic Club KC pitcher Amin Yahouse, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Ft. Worth on top, 4-3.

Degré told a Ft. Worth Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
